Mitch Miller is a 2002 graduate from Franklin Area High School where he was on the wrestling team and was elected class president all four years of high school. He was responsible for running and steering meetings of class council. Mitch came to Pittsburgh in 2002 to attend the University of Pittsburgh and has lived in Pittsburgh ever since. He became a member of Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity in 2003 and served a year as Secretary, a year as Social Chair, and a year as Pledge Marshall within this organization. While attending full time classes, Mitch had a work study job, a pizza delivery job, and began his own house painting franchise his sophomore year at Pitt. He attended multiple conferences and trainings on how to run his own business including marketing, estimating, sales, booking, scheduling, training employees, and producing work. The summer after his sophomore year he produced $100,000 in exterior house painting with three crews of painters he had trained. He repeated this same production level the summer after his Junior year at Pitt. In 2006, Mitch graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor's degree in Film Studies. Due to his contract with the painting franchise company, Mitch was unable to have his own painting business for 2 years, so after graduation he took a job at The Home Depot. After waiting 2 years Mitch began his own independent house painting business with a small crew of 3 painters. Once business became steady, Mitch left The Home Depot to work at his business full time. In 2009 he purchased a house in the Bloomfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh with his spouse. In 2010 Mitch experienced a setback that caused him to shut down his business operations. After working for a contractor for 2 years, Mitch decided to utilize the handyman skills he developed problem solving issues on his 100 year old Fraternity house and his 100 year old home in Bloomfield to once again open his own business. This time he kept it to a one person business mainly focused on house painting. Mitch has developed many leadership skills over the years and works well with others. As a homeowner, he believes he has a grasp on the needs of Pittsburgh residents and as a small business owner Mitch can offer insight as to how to help this part of the economy. He offers a new approach to the position of mayor of Pittsburgh and hopes he can count on your vote!
